Grady For President--2012

Time For Real Change--Not the Kind We Were Sold in 2008

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."  When I was in business I lived by this quote.  If something is working I believe you should stick with it.  However, if something isn't working you can't keep doing whatever it is.  That's crazy.  Our government, despite warnings from conservatives, spent almost $1 Trillion dollars on a stimulus package that by any measurement has been a total failure.  Even the president stated that there were way less "shovel ready" jobs than he anticipated.  So what do some people want to do to get this economy moving?  Throw more taxpayer money at the problem!  That isn't the solution.  As I've said until I'm tired of saying it, there must be a reason for a job or as soon as the stimulus is gone, so is the job.  Businesses are sitting on a lot of capital just waiting to invest it, but they don't have any reason to.  The demand isn't there, they are wary of impending regulations under the legislation known as "Obamacare" and economic growth is almost non-existent.

I understand that I'm not going to win.  I understand that I probably won't get more than a handful of votes.  However, this site as of this edit is approaching 400,000 hits, and people are hearing the message.  That's why I'm here.  I've got something to say, and this is the vehicle I have chosen with which to say it.

Here's the main problem as I see it. We didn't go far enough in reducing our debt in the agreement which was reached last fall, so now one credit rating agency has downgraded the credit worthiness of the United States of America.  We are now on a par with Lichtenstein and New Zealand.  The state of Virginia has a better credit rating than the United States of America!  And on September 7th of last year it was announced that the United States has slipped to 5th place in the ratings of economies around the world, primarily because of our debt.  To me this shows in stark detail just why it is so important to get our fiscal house in order.  Just think of what's going on.  We are borrowing approximately 40 cents for every dollar we spend.  If you think about it, that's nuts.  Imagine running your household like that.  You'd be on the street and homeless very quickly. However, this president isn't serious about balancing the budget.  The budget he submitted to Congress, which was defeated unanimously, including by members of his own party, shows that.  Mitt Romney and his campaign have finally started to talk about it.  It is imperative we balance the budget or we face national disaster, ridicule, and shame.

America is at a crossroads.  Do we accept that we're heading to second class status as a nation and that our days as the #1 superpower on Earth are over?  Do we allow our politicians to "manage the decline?"  Or, do we come together collectively to solve our problems?  Only working together, all three hundred million of us, can we solve our problems.  The problems are large, but I believe that we as a people are larger.  There is nothing the people of the United States can't overcome, but it takes two things--our will to solve problems together, and the end to divisiveness.  Pitting one group in America against another may work to keep some people in power, but it will only prolong our problems.

This election is going to come down to a choice which couldn't be more stark.  On the one hand we have a president whose own budgets show deficits exceeding $1 Trillion per year for years and years.  This will break us as a nation.  On the other hand we have a man who has an extensive business background and who understands what makes businesses work.  That man is Mitt Romney.  For those who are interested in a third choice, you have my candidacy.  I've been talking and writing about these issues for some time, and you can read all my articles by linking through my "issue stances" page.  Many of the solutions I propose are intertwined, so you should read more than one article.  For instance, I put forward a plan for balancing the budget, but I also think we need to scrap the current tax code and replace it with a national sales tax.  Then, as part of balancing the budget, we could reduce the size of the IRS by about 90%.

I want to thank all of you who have emailed our campaign.  The response has been overwhelmingly positive.  I feel that Americans are starting to believe that we don't need politicians who are beholden to what I like to call the money men.  Every single politician these days seems to be rated on his or her ability to raise money.  Why do we need that, and what is the repayment?  Nothing is freeThat's why I'm not trying to raise money at all.  I believe someone, someday, will win on ideas, especially in a world where ideas can be shared in seconds.

I just want to make the point again.  We must stop the deficit spending immediately.  Every day we waste is one day closer to the end of this great experiment we call democracy and this land we call America.

So, once again, you will find my solutions through my "issue stances" page.  My newest article is entitled "Time to Tap American Energy" and speaks to the necessity of exploiting American energy sources.   Enjoy, and God Bless America. Spread the word.  Like us on Facebook!
